About Reflexology

Reflexology is based on the principle that all systems of the body are mapped out in reflex points on the feet, hands and ears. It is a deeply relaxing, unique method which applies pressure to specific points. Stimulation of over 7,000 nerve endings in the feet help to open up the natural pathways your body uses to nourish and heal itself.

It is believed that reflexology triggers the body's relaxation response, interrupting the pattern of stress and bringing balance to the body and its systems where there is imbalance. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits in the soft tissues and imbalances from touching the feet, hands and ears.

Reflexologists work holistically with clients and aim to work alongside traditional healthcare (like your GP) to promote better health and a sense of wellbeing. We know that symptoms may occur in one area or system of the body, which in fact relate to an entirely different area. For example, headaches may occur as a result of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), rather than something to do with the nervous system. This is why we treat the mind and body as whole.

RLD (Reflexology Lymph Drainage)

Reflexology Lymph Drainage focuses on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes on the feet to cause an effect on the lymphatic system in the body, with the aim to reducing the symptoms of Lymphoedema. Additionally, in the same way that MLD (Manual Lymph Drainage) is used to treat conditions other than Lymphoedema, RLD may help with symptoms from fibromyalgia, ME/chronic fatigue, asthma, arthritis, eczema, sinus, migraines, headaches, PMS and more.

Bergman Method Advanced Facial Reflexology

Facial Reflexology Bergman Method was developed by the highly acclaimed Ziggie Bergman (London). is a wellness-focussed treatment with unique benefits. It helps to ease emotions and tension held in the facial muscles, reduce stress and leaves you with a glowing complexion. Skin appears tighter, smoother and more plump over a course of treatments. It can offer support with headaches, migraines, sinus, bruxism, anxiety, Bell's Palsy and more. The close proximity to the brain aids in a quicker and deeper shift into the parasympathetic state of rest and digest, allowing the body to rebalance and repair. This technique is incredibly restorative, even more so when combined with foot reflexology.

The Experience

Treatments take place in a warm, well ventilated, relaxing and private room. You will hear bird song and the rustling of the palm trees over the pool at our little sanctuary.

Some clients may prefer/be suited to a standalone foot or facial reflexology treatment, or a combination of the two.

At the start of your foot / combined foot and face reflexology appointment, your feet will soak in a warm epsom salt foot bath and if it your first one we will complete a wellbeing consultation form together. This allows me to check for any contraindications and to tailor the treatment to your needs.

From here, you will be made to feel comfortable and supported on my treatment bed, with the necessary support to ensure you will be at ease for the duration of the treatment.

A series of massage-like relaxation techniques will be used to introduce your feet and lower legs/face to my touch. The well-practised techniques, along with beautiful NZ made natural foot balms/facial oil, ensures you will start to feel the stresses of life slip away!

The reflexology itself is a more specific use of thumb and/or finger techniques to work each area using pressure.  I finish with more massage, a Brazilian Toe Hold, an Endocrine Balance, or by focussing on an area of need; and always with a Solar Plexus hold. The entire process is gentle, non-invasive and intensely relaxing.

Many clients do like to be peaceful during the treatment and it is not uncommon for clients to fall asleep. Others do like to talk. I will always take your lead on this, it is your session and I want you to get the best possible outcome during it.

To finish, you will be offered a glass of filtered water, some locally made detoxifying herbal tea and dark lindt chocolate. At this point you will have time to ask any questions about your session.

One of the most important intentions of a reflexology treatment is deep relaxation. I am proud to provide a safe and friendly space for you to feel spoilt, safe, nourished and able to let go. My clients leave the treatment room feeling lighter and brighter, ready to face whatever life is throwing their way.
